H. pylori is the leading cause of peptic ulcers and is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen for stomach cancer.

How is H. pylori Transmitted?

​H. pylori spreads through contaminated food, water, and close contact with an infected person. Many people with H. pylori have no symptoms but carry the bacteria for years.

Testing options include the urea breath test (non-invasive and highly accurate), stool antigen test, blood antibody test, and biopsy during upper endoscopy. H. pylori Treatment

H. pylori is treated with a combination of antibiotics and acid-suppressing medication — typically a two-week course. Confirmation of eradication is essential after treatment, as antibiotic resistance rates are increasing. Our physicians confirm cure with a follow-up breath test or stool antigen test and will recommend a second-line regimen if the first treatment is unsuccessful.​
